Angklung

Angklung is a musical instrument made of bamboo, how to play it shaken and vibrated by hand, this instrument has long been known in several regions in Indonesia, especially in West Java, Central Java, East Java and Bali. The word comes from the Sundanese Angklung "angkleung-angkleungan" ie Angklung player movement and sound "klung" it generates

Etymologically, Angklung derived from the word "Angka" which means the tone and "lung" which means broken. So Angklung refers to the tone or tone burst incomplete. Angklung words taken from the way the instrument is played.


Philosophy Of Angklung

According Ancestors Sundanese antiquity, the human life like angklung tube. The tube was personifies the man himself. Angklung is not an Angklung if it only consists of one tube only. It's like a human who can't live alone (individual) but also illustrates that human social life.

Not only that, angklung tube consisting of large and small tubes likens human development. Small tube (left) is the description of human beings who have ideals and efforts to make it big (large tube - the right). The second tube has the meaning that humans know and understand the limits of himself, like the two tubes that sounded angklung trooped to produce harmony, man had walked hand in hand to create harmony in public life.
