Sundanese Dance

Sunda Land (Priangan) is known to have various unique and interesting culture, Jaipongan is one of the famous art and culture of this region. Jaipongan or Jaipong Dance is actually a modern dance that's because it's a modification of the traditional Sundanese Dance Ketuk Tilu. This Jaipong Dance performed with musical accompaniment is also typical, namely Degung. Music is a diverse collection of musical instruments such as Kendang, Go'ong, Saron, Kacapi, etc.. Degung can be likened to 'orchestra' in European music / American. A unique feature of this Jaipong Dance is a stomping music, where musical instruments most prominent drum sounds for dance accompaniment. This dance is usually performed by one, in pairs or in groups. As an interesting dance, Jaipong often performed on special occasions entertainment, salvation or wedding.

Ketuk Tilu is a social dance and entertainment at the same time which is usually held on the wedding events, entertainment events or activities cover in particular be held in a place large enough. The appearance of this dance in the community had nothing to do with a particular custom or a certain sacred ceremonies but purely as entertainment and association show Therefore Tilu tap dance was much appreciated by the public, especially in rural areas who rarely entertainment activities.

Besides Dance Jaipong, spare sunda also has two other kinds of dances, namely: Peacock Dance (Tari Merak) and Mask Dance (Tari Topeng).
